Kimberly has been singing and playing music since she was a little girl growing up near Royal, NE. She took piano lessons in early elementary school and continued with clarinet through high school. She then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of South Dakota, furthering her musical knowledge studying piano, clarinet, and voice. While there, she honed her skills by performing in both collegiate and professional ensembles to include the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra and Sioux City Municipal Band.
After obtaining her music degree, Kimberly wanted to continue her performance experience by enlisting into the South Dakota Army National Guard as a musician in the 147th Army Band based out of Mitchell, SD. She continues to serve with this unit performing for both military and community concerts as the lead vocalist in the 147th’s country/classic rock band or playing clarinet in the concert band. On non-drill weekends, Kimberly fronts one of South Dakota’s premier cover bands, the Black Water Band, as lead vocalist, keyboardist, and rhythm guitarist.
During the week, she can be found working at Midwest Music Center and teaching private lessons in the afternoon/evening. She specializes in teaching beginner to late intermediate piano, age 6-adult. With special approval, Kimberly accepts voice students, ages 13-adult who are interested in advancing vocal technique or who have goals of perfecting performance pieces.
